Made To Measure Fly Screens

Cut to your opening, not to a standard size

Every screen we sell is made to measure in the sense that matters: you order the size above your opening and cut it down to fit the window or door in front of you. In an older Dutch house no two openings match, and a screen built for a catalogue size will always sit loose somewhere.

Below are the ranges people usually want when they search for a custom size. Pick the size above your opening and trim it. If your opening is bigger than anything here, or an awkward shape, ask us for a price.

What "made to measure" actually means here

We are not cutting each screen on a bench to a millimetre you send us. We hold a range of sizes, you take the one just above your opening, and the screen trims down with a blade or strong scissors. That is how you get a screen that fits a non-standard window without waiting on a workshop or paying for one.

The mesh is the part that gets cut. The magnetic strip or hook-and-loop tape goes onto the frame face and is cut to the same length, so the finished screen matches your opening on all four sides.

Custom size window screens

Window screens run from 100 x 100 cm up to 200 x 200 cm across three mesh grades. Standard mesh is the general-purpose grey, midge mesh is a finer black weave that stops the small stuff, and pet mesh is a heavy polyester that a cat cannot claw through. Every one of them cuts down.

Measure the frame opening rather than the glass, and if you fall between two sizes take the larger one. Mesh will happily overlap a frame edge. It will not stretch.

Custom size magnetic screen doors

Door screens run from 60cm to 180cm wide in 210cm and 240cm heights, which covers everything from a narrow side entrance to a set of patio doors. The magnetic seam runs the full height, so a wider door still closes itself rather than gapping in the middle.

Measure across the door frame and from the sill to the top of the frame. As with the windows, go up rather than down if you are between sizes.

Nothing gets drilled

Everything fixes with magnetic strip or hook-and-loop tape on the frame face. Both hold for years, both come away without taking the paint with them, and both go back up next summer. That is what makes a made to measure screen workable in a rented flat.

When a standard size will not do it

Some openings genuinely are outside the range: very wide patio runs, arched or angled frames, or a building with dozens of windows where none of them match. Send us the measurements and we will come back with a price and a lead time.

There is no charge and no obligation. If a standard size would do the job, we will tell you.
